Ineke Knudsen (b. 1996), is a figurative oil painter from Morgantown, WV, currently living and working in Providence, RI. Her work depicts sites of ritual: voluminous mountains and empty plains are pierced by light, and attended to by animals and girls. Heavily influenced by Christian and pagan iconography, Ineke’s creatures morph, circle, and stare, bleeding the lines between animal, human, and god.
Ineke’s recent gallery exhibitions include group shows at Gallery 263 in Cambridge, MA, Tureen in Dallas, TX, and The Ignition Space in Fall River, MA. She holds an MFA in Painting from the Rhode Island School of Design and a BFA in Painting from West Virginia University. Outside of her painting career, Ineke has daylighted for acclaimed non-profit institutions such as WaterFire Providence and the Mayors’ Institute on City Design.
